In this episode of Autism Spectrum Radio Dr. Frea examines the most important aspect of an autism therapy program: The parent as a teacher. Over the past two episodes of Autism Spectrum Radio we’ve taken a broad look at autism from a parental perspective. In this final episode in our focus on the parents we look at training the most important teacher in a child with autism’s life, their parent. The knowledge and understanding parents have of their child’s therapy program can often times be the determining factor between success and failure. In this episode we look forward to discussing some of the most effective strategies to achieving success, and techniques to avoid failure. Dr. Frea is also happy to welcome Dr. Daniel Openden to the show. Dr. Openden has an extensive background in therapies for autism spectrum disorders & has worked with countless families to help them get the most out of their therapy programs. Rob Haupt

Rob Haupt is a passionate professional in the field of autism. His knowledge of autism services, treatment options and insurance coverage has made him a popular guest speaker to advocate groups. He also shares tips for parents through his weekly video blog.

Rob is a Board Certified Behavior Analyst with over 12 years of experience treating individuals with Development Disabilities. He currently serves as Vice President of Business Development at Autism Spectrum Therapies (AST), an agency that provides Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), Occupational Therapy and Speech to individuals with Autism. In his role with AST, Rob has collaborated with parents, teachers, and schools to support better understanding of autism health insurance mandates and how to effectively use insurance coverage.
