Episode Description

Is there more to controversy than you've imagined? When we don't function within the normal limitations of this reality, when we don't do "what we should, when we should, how we should", it's considered by many to be controversial. What if controversy is being a leader going where there's no path laid out yet; the space where we deviate from the norm to create something that has not existed before? What if choosing to be controversial, to function outside the norm, can be used to create greater awareness, more choice and different possibilities than you ever thought was possible? What contribution can you be to you and the world when you're willing to be controversial?

Anne Maxwell, LCSW, RPT-S, is a child and play and family therapist, author, and an Access Consciousness(r) facilitator. Known as the “Play Lady” by many of the children with whom she works, and as the “Kid Whisperer” by some of her colleagues, she facilitates Access Consciousness® workshops worldwide. She has over 20 years of experience working with kids of all ages and with all kinds of adults and families.

Prior to working with children and families, she worked in Washington, DC, in national politics. She successfully lobbied for the authorization of and funding for a $25 million primary prevention and early intervention program for at-risk mothers and their babies. She changed direction from lobbying on behalf of kids and families to attending graduate school, so that she could become credentialed to work directly with them in a clinical capacity. Knowing that there was more to children than her traditional trainings led her to believe, she discovered Access Consciousness(r), which gave her the tools and processes to use to enhance what she had learned.

Anne has developed a unique approach to change for children and families. She teaches kids and parents to tap into and recognize their own abilities and knowing. And, the results have been magical, phenomenal, amazing! She recently published "Would You Teach a Fish to Climb a Tree? A Different Take on Kids with ADD, ADHD, OCD and Autism," co-authored with Gary Douglas and Dr. Dain Heer.

Susanna Mittermaier, clinical psychologist, psychotherapist, sought after Access Consciousness Facilitator, author of Pragmatic Psychology- Practical Tools for Being Crazy Happy and worldwide speaker is creating a new paradigm with psychology and therapy, called Pragmatic Psychology.

Susanna has an enormous capacity to facilitate lightness and joy beyond what this reality finds normal. She lets the world know that depression, anxiety, ADHD, autism and every other mental illness is a capacity that has not been acknowledged and can easily be turned into possibilities and creating ones´ life greater than can be imagined.

Susanna is a clinical psychologist and psychotherapist with years of experience in mental health, working with in- and outpatients with all diagnosis. The success of her book leads to many worldwide travels every month to facilitate classes, private sessions and changing the world.
