Episode Description

The growth story in Africa is compelling for private equity investors, VCs and increasingly, cross-border businesses. The continent has some of the highest growth figures in the world: 7 countries in the top 10 for GDP growth last year. The IMF forecasts that Sub-Saharan Africa will grow 5.7% in 2013. The consumer story could not be more attractive; banking, finance, telecoms and tech are booming. Nate Suppaiah, editor of Emerging Alternative Investor returns to Global Reach. He’ll highlight the key countries and sweet spots for PE funds, investment banks, private investors and companies looking for emerging markets opportunities. Last week Charles Kolb said citizen involvement is the way to bring accountability back to our institutions. Now Citizen Action Dir. Karen Scharff talks about why she & 20 others were arrested for challenging the NY Senate to vote on the Fair Elections bill demanded by the state's biz leaders, governor, Assembly and 57-70% of the people.

We are all operating in a dynamic global marketplace, whether we reach across borders to find new customers and fresh ideas or face overseas competitors in our home market.

Global Reach embraces the opportunities and challenges we encounter when operating in multiple countries and cultures. We talk with entrepreneurs and executives about their strategies for winning in fast changing world markets: cross-cultural communication, global branding, media and marketing, transportation and manufacturing, the future of finance, alternative investment strategies, innovation and IP protection.

Global Reach interviews thought leaders about 21st century megatrends that impact international entities: trends like the business and politics of sustainability, the morphing nature of competitiveness, globalization, global companies vs national governments, worldview and growth prescriptions, emerging markets issues, and the corporate impact on society (governance, ethics and leadership).
