Episode Description

What does peace look like and how can humanity achieve it? Jody Williams is a good place to start. In the 1990’s, she oversaw the growth of the International Campaign to Ban Landmines from an organization of one (her) to a worldwide force that succeeded in getting an international treaty banning landmines signed in 1997. For this work, she won that year’s Nobel Peace Prize. But Jody was not content to rest on her laurels. In 2006, she established the Nobel Women’s Initiative in partnership with other female Nobel Peace Prize laureates with the goal of leveraging the prestige of the Prize to strengthen work being done worldwide to support women’s rights and the creation of peace everywhere. Join host Kate Ebner and Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Jody Williams on May 19 to learn Jody’s successful strategies for creating change on a global scale, the top threats to peace in the 21st century and to hear her vision for peace.
