Episode Description

The buzz: How’s Things? With the proliferation of the Apple Watch, we are starting to see some of the promise of the Internet of Things making its way into the enterprise. But if the hype hasn’t matched your expectations, it may be time to rethink the place of Things and devices. How? And can we avoid Thing-caused fatigue and frustration? The experts speak. Benjamin Robbins, Palador: “Great things are not done by impulse, but by a series of small things brought together” (George Elliot). Maribel Lopez, Lopez Research: “Connected doesn’t mean smart. Businesses still have to put thought into what type of experience a connected device should provide before they buy hardware that could be meaningless." Brian Katz, VMWare: “The computer is incredibly fast, accurate, and stupid. Man is incredibly slow, inaccurate, and brilliant. The marriage of the two is a force beyond calculation" (Leo Cherne). Join us for The Internet of Things: When Things Don’t Live Up to the Hype.
