Roughly 750,000 people, mostly men, undergo heart bypass surgery. Estimates are that just 1/3 of them were life threatening and needed immediate surgery, 1/3 were serious but not imminent, and the final 1/3 were not necessary but done under the "precautionary" guise. To put that into perspective, over $150 Billion was spent on these procedures. Cut that by 2/3's and it would mean $100 Billion was spent but needlessly imposing significant expense and risk to the lives of 500,000 people. Today's guest is Dr. Garry Gordon, MD.
