I became interested in the concept of Chinese energy (qi) in my late twenties when I first started studying Aikido and Karate. Over the years I also studied Tai Chi, and lived in China to study Qi Gong under Master Sun who had his own cancer clinic, helping people overcome cancer with Qi Gong. Qi Gong is an ancient form of healing through certain ways of moving, breathing and visualization. I entered Acupuncture College at 42 in New York City, and graduated from Tri-State College of Acupuncture in 2001, and have practiced as a licensed acupuncturist in New York State since July, 2001. Since graduating from Acupuncture, I have co-authored a 230 page textbook entitled "Natural Eye Care - A Comprehensive Manual for Practitioners of Oriental Medicine" I love the concepts of Chinese medicine, as they approach health and healing from a truly holistic perspective, viewing and treating each person as unique from everyone else. With its rich 3,000 year old tradition, there is a never ending wealth of healing knowledge to draw upon. In Chinese medicine, each person is viewed uniquely. Even those patients who come in for treatment for problems that look the same symptomatically or from a western diagnostic perspective, the underlying reason why dis-ease occurs in each person differs from one to the other, therefore treatment has to be tailored to the unique needs of each patient. Mission My personal mission as an acupuncturist and health care practitioner is to help my patients overcome their health condition(s), and provide them with necessary tools and guidance to be able to engage in their own healing process. I believe in the natural healing process of the body, and that we ultimately have to rely on this process to gain and maintain health. I believe that dis-ease typically takes a long time to manifest, and is the result of a long term energy disturbance within the mind, body and/or spirit. Dis-ease can result from excess stress (emotional and/or physical), poor diet, lack of exercise, genetic disposition, exposure to chemicals or pesticides, excess repetitive motions, or any combination of the above. There are also conditions that result from injury and trauma, and these can be usually be helped as well through Chinese medicine. I hope that I may be able to help assist you in achieving optimum health. 136 N. Chestnut Street, New Paltz, New York 12561 845-255-8222 michael@naturaleyecare.com
