Lisette Lahana

Lisette Lahana, hold a masters in social work from Smith College. Since 1999 she has been a licensed clinical social worker who provides psychotherapy for transgender and transsexual people, as well as for their partners and families. Ms. Lahana runs therapy groups for female partners of trans men as well as for those considering a gender transition. She has helped over 75 people make transitions and worked with over 200 transgender people. Since 2002 she has been a member of the World Professional Association for Transgender Health. She frequently conducts gender evaluations for plastic surgeons, presents at conferences and trains healthcare providers on trans competent care. She founded the New England Gender Conference in 2007 that included presentations by well-known plastic surgeons. Ms. Lahana currently works at Kaiser Permanente’s Psychiatry Department in Northern California and has a private practice in Oakland that focuses primarily on gender concerns.
