Jorge L. Sosa
Dr. Jorge L. Sosa is Board Certified by the American Board of Surgery in General Surgery and Surgical Critical Care. He received his medical school degree from the University of South Florida where he graduated at the top of his class. Dr. Sosa completed his residency in General Surgery at the University of Miami School of Medicine, Jackson Memorial Hospital, where he became a pioneer and expert in laparoscopic surgery. He then completed a fellowship in Surgical Critical Care after which he stayed on as a faculty member of the University of Miami School of Medicine, Jackson Memorial Hospital. Dr. Sosa established his private practice in 1995 and concentrated his practice in Bariatric Surgery beginning in 2001. Dr. Sosa has performed over 4000 Bariatric Procedures and has been certified as a Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery and The American College of Surgeons. Dr. Sosa’s Bariatric Program received the top ranking in Miami-Dade County, and ranked number two in the State of Florida by Healthgrades. Dr. Sosa has taught General and Laparoscopic Surgery and has been featured in multiple news and media forums.
