Chris Wood

Before joining Trout Unlimited in September 2001, Chris Wood served as the Senior Policy and Communications Advisor to the Chief of the US Forest Service for five years. Chris began his career with Forest Service Research in Idaho and also worked for the Fish and Wildlife Program of the Bureau of Land Management. Since arriving at TU, Chris has worked with various sportsmen organizations to protect iconic landscapes such as the Wyoming Range and Idaho’s backcountry road-less areas. He has successfully formed partnerships with various foundations, landowners, state and federal agencies to find conservation solutions that balance the needs of fish and people. Chris is the co-editor and author of two books: “Watershed Restoration: Principles and Practices” (AFS 1997) and “From Conquest to Conservation: Our Public Land Legacy” (Island Press, 2003). He lives with his wife Betsy and their three sons in Washington, D.C.
