Susan Leopold

Susan Leopold is the current Executive Director of United Plant Savers. She has her Doctorate in Ethnobotany from Antioch New England, her research involved the loss of local plant knowledge in the Bull Run Mountains of Virginia, and the implications from a shift in regards to plant knowledge from a economic, ecological, and social perspective. She has her Masters in Environmental Landscape Design from the Conway School in Conway, Mass. Previously Susan has worked as Executive Director of the Bull Run Mountain Conservatory, as special project manager for the Virginia Outdoors Foundation (land trust), and as a special research librarian, and art photographer at the Oak Spring Garden Library in Upperville Va. She has extensive knowledge on rare botanical books, such as herbals, horticultural, plant explorers, traders, and botanical art in general. She lives in Linden, Virginia, where she raises goats and medicinal herbs.
