Dion Neutra

Dion Neutra was born in 1926, the same year that his famous architect father, Richard Neutra, formed his practice. At the age of 11, Dion began his apprenticeship at a drafting table in his father’s office. He served in the United States Navy in WWII, studied for a year in Zurich, and then graduated cum laude from USC with a Bachelor’s Degree in Architecture. He became one of the youngest corporate members of the American Institute of Architects at age 24. Since then, the Neutra Practice has developed numbers of award-winning structures—educational, medical, civic, recreational, and residential. After the passing of Richard Neutra in 1970, Dion became the firm’s president, which is celebrating its 87th year in 2013.
