Patrick Meier (PhD)

Patrick Meier (PhD) is an internationally recognized thought leader on the application of new technologies for crisis early warning, humanitarian response and resilience. He presently serves as Director of Social Innovation at the Qatar Foundation’s Computing Research Institute (QCRI) where he develops next-generation humanitarian technologies. Patrick is a National Geographic Emerging Explorer and a member of the Academy of Achievement (AoA). Prior to QCRI, he co-founded and co-directed the Harvard Humanitarian Initiative’s (HHI) Program on Crisis Mapping and Early Warning, and served as Director of Crisis Mapping at Ushahidi. Patrick also co-founded the CrisisMappers Network, the Standby Task Force and the Digital Humanitarians Network. He is an accomplished speaker, having given talks at the White House, UN, Harvard, Stanford, MIT, PopTech, and several TEDx’s.
