Karilee Halo Shames PhD, RN, AHN-BC
Karilee Halo Shames PhD, RN, AHN-BC, received her undergraduate degrees in Sociology (1971) and in Nursing (1972), with a minor in Child Development Studies at the University of Maryland in College Park MD. She then received her MSN (Master of Science in Nursing) at the University of Maryland Baltimore campus in 1974. She went on to receive her PhD in Holistic Studies (1979) at Columbia Pacific University. Positions she has held throughout her career include: • Inpatient Psychiatric Unit Coordinator • Assistant Professor, Nursing at Florida Atlantic University • Private Practice RN 25 years counseling • California Coordinator, Director-at-Large, and Public Relations Chair for the American Holistic Nurses Association. In her personal life, Karilee has co-raised three great kids into fine adults with her husband of four decades, Dr. Richard Shames. She has made lasting friendships with women all over the world and is dedicated to female empowerment.
