Paolo Parigi

Paolo Parigi received his PhD in sociology in 2008 from Columbia University and has since then been an assistant professor at Stanford University. Paolo has been interested in studying the emergence of cooperation processes that unite people and/or organizations in networks. The data he has used spans between contemporary and historical times. Paolo’s research shows how networks generate new cultural fields, social movements, ideologies and markets and has appeared in leading journals in the discipline. In the last two years, Paolo has been working on a project about the formation of trust in the sharing economy that was recently awarded a grant from the National Science Foundation. The overarching goal of this project is to develop a detailed model for trust formation among strangers that would become applicable in different contexts.
