Terence McNamee

Dr. McNamee is Deputy Director of The Brenthurst Foundation (South Africa). He has worked in London and was educated at universities in his native Canada & the UK, receiving his PhD from the LSE. He has been a writer & consultant on projects in the areas of peace-building, post-conflict reconstruction & economic development, primarily in Africa. He is published in academic journals & newspapers. In 2012 he authored the Foundation’s study of Chinese small businesses in southern Africa, entitled ‘Africa in their Words: A Study of Chinese Traders in South Africa, Lesotho, Botswana, Zambia and Angola’. Other publications include ‘War Without Consequences: Iraq's Insurgency and the Spectre of Strategic Defeat’ (ed.) (RUSI, 2008) & On the Fault Line: Managing Tensions and Divisions within Societies (Profile Books, 2012, with Greg Mills & Jeffrey Herbst). As part of the Foundation’s Presidential Advisory Committee on the Economy of Malawi, he serves as an Advisor to President Joyce Banda.
