Catherine Townsend

Catherine Townsend is a licensed private investigator, author and journalist. She is the owner and qualified manager of Los Angeles based The Townsend Detective Agency, founded in 2013, and blogs at The Love Detective. Since beginning her career as a staff writer for New York magazine, Catherine has written for publications including GQ, Elle, Marie Claire, Cosmopolitan, the Daily Mail, the New York Post, and The Atlantic - and interviewed everyone from Playboy bunnies to heads of state. She also created the Sleeping Around dating column for The Independent newspaper in London. Catherine is the author of Sleeping Around: Secrets of a Sexual Adventuress (John Murray) and the sequel Breaking the Rules: Confessions of a Bad Girl. More than 100,000 copies have been sold worldwide. After moving to Los Angeles, Catherine completed the Certified Master Investigator Training with DGA Detectives, then completed the requisite 6000 hours and state test to get her private investigator’s license. She finds that since most people are motivated by love, greed and/or revenge, her expertise in the area of personal relationships is a huge asset when it comes to solving cases.
