Lee Hieb (L), Candidate for Governor of Iowa
For over 25 years, during a long career in private practice Orthopaedics, Dr. Hieb has experienced first hand the problems when government intrudes in the practice of medicine. For many years “apolitical”, she got involved when she found herself steamrolled by taxes and the 160,000 pages of Medicare regulation. As a small business owner with seven employees, she found herself less and less able to keep up with the overhead costs and the myriad inane requirements placed on her from every level of government. Beginning in 1997, Dr. Hieb became active in medical groups that promoted free markets in medicine. She became President of the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, and as such began doing extensive public speaking and writing. She intends to promote economic freedom, personal freedom, and educational freedom by cutting taxes and reducing regulation.
