Dr. Paul Ruggieri

Dr. Paul Ruggieri is a practicing general surgeon, writer, husband, stepfather, and lover of single malt whiskey. His practice specializes in general, advanced minimally invasive and thyroid surgery. Throughout his active twenty year career, Dr. Ruggieri has held department of surgery chairman positions at several community hospitals. He has also been a clinical instructor at Harvard Medical School. He is board certified in his specialty and a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons. Dr. Ruggieri graduated from Georgetown University School of Medicine and completed his surgical training at Barnes Hospital, Washington University School of Medicine. He subsequently served three years on active duty, the last as department of surgery chairman, in the United States Army. He returned to the Northeast to practice surgery over 12 years ago after his father was diagnosed with multiple myeloma, a terminal bone marrow cancer. Dr. Ruggieri has authored or co-authored three patient oriented books: Colon & Rectal Cancer: A Patient’s Guide to Treatment, A Simple Guide to Thyroid Disorders: From Diagnosis to Treatment, and The Surgery Handbook: A Guide to Understanding Your Operation.
