Pat is Founder and Exec. Director of The Wild Animal Sanctuary outside Keenseburg, CO, in response to a massive social problem: The Captive Wildlife Crisis. A 720-acre refuge for more than 350 rescued lions, tigers, bears, wolves and other large carnivores, TWAS is the oldest and largest nonprofit Sanctuary in the US dedicated exclusively to rescuing captive exotic and endangered large carnivores. A native of Boulder, CO, Pat began saving captive wildlife as a 19yo college student, and has become a leading expert in captive large carnivore behavior and sanctuary development. Working successfully with the USDA, the U.S., Mexican, and Canadian wildlife agencies, Pat and TWAS have received recognition from American Veterinary Association and the American Humane Association. TWAS has been featured on National Geographic Channel, 60 Minutes News, Animal Planet, and major documentaries covering the captive wildlife crisis. http://www.wildanimalsanctuary.org
