Viana's son joined the Marine Corps Reserves after 9/11 2001. As a mother, she had many trepidations as to what his future would be like. After his second drill weekend, he received orders to deploy to Iraq.
After joining many other military mothers for lunch, as the war began to deepen, the group began to brainstorm the idea of Military Family Support Group.
MFSG is an ALL volunteer 501 C 3 non-profit. They rely solely on donations from the community. Approximately 95 percent of every dollar we collect goes directly to pay for postage.
She always said that when the war first started in 2003 it was our fear of the unknown. Now I say, it is the fear of what we do know that makes it so important to serve and support our man and women serving our country who are in harm's way.
Their mission statement is, "Till they all come home."
