Shane Burcar

Shane Burcar has been coaching for 13 seasons and in his 4th season as head coach of the Mesa Basketball program they are a top ranked program. Coach Burcar was an assistant coach during the 2004 State Championship season and returned to take over the reins of the program in ‘04. Since his arrival the Jackrabbits have won 3 types of championships. 2 Holiday tournaments and one Region title (2008). Burcar, coached Aaron Fuller (University of Iowa), 2007 1st Team All-State and 2008 Player of the Year (Arizona Republic and East Valley Tribune). He also coached Point Guard Donte Medder (University of Tulsa), 1st Team All-State (2009). Burcar, has coached over 20 Division I athletes. He has coached 3 State Player of the Year players in Arizona. Burcar, also has had the privilege to coach in 3 All-Star games (2 High School and 1 College). Hall of Fame Coach Tom Bennett is considered his mentor as he started his coaching career under him at Gilbert High. Burcar, 37, originally from Hancock, Michigan earned his bachelor’s degree in Education from Ottawa University. He and his wife, Julie, have one daughter, Bella (2).
