John Racanelli

In a long career dedicated to ocean conservation, John served as the first CEO of the Florida Aquarium and was a founding director and vice president of the Monterey Bay Aquarium. A California native, he is involved in statewide conservation issues and serves on the boards of several organizations focused on the ocean and San Francisco Bay. As president of Racanelli Partners, Inc., John consults with businesses and non-profits in strategic planning, leadership team development, communications, and fundraising strategy and implementation. He applies these varied skills to Deep Search Foundation as its Executive Advisor. John was instrumental in helping ocean explorer Dr. Sylvia Earle launch Google’s ‘Ocean in Google Earth’ and continues to work with Dr. Earle in her mission to explore and care for the ocean. Trained in environmental planning at the University of California, John holds a degree in Strategic Management from Dominican University of California.
