Edith Marks

Edith Marks holds a Masters Degree in Psychology from Columbia University. At the New York City Board of Education she rose from a teacher of emotionally disturbed children to a supervisor of teacher training for children with special needs. During this period she co-authored Job Hunting for the Handicapped . Glaucoma entered the picture during her tenure as a teacher, but because of the pressures associated with teaching, Edith did not seek group support until she retired in 1989. At that time the Glaucoma Support and Education was a small organization with about fifty members. Edith developed a newsletter as part of her contribution and realized that a book for patients was needed. She wrote Coping With Glaucoma and a completely updated version entitled, Glaucoma: Patient to Patient: A Guide for You and Your Family. Environmentalism, gourmet cooking, long walks in Central Park and urban gardening constitute are her passions and pleasures. www.Glaucomahealth.com
