Joe Cribbs
Joe Cribbs was born in Sulligent, AL, the youngest of three boys to Vandora and Harold Cribbs. Early on he showed he had special talents in athletics and quickly became the most celebrated athlete to come out of the small town. A three time high school All-American in football, he also excelled in basketball and track. After high school he received many scholarship offers and decided to attend Auburn University to play football in 1976. During his time at Auburn, he became the most prolific runner in the school’s history. Cribbs remains 4th in career yards and still holds the record for most consecutive games with over 100 yards. After completing his collegiate career Cribbs was drafted 29th overall by the Buffalo Bills. He became an instant starter and won the AFC-Rookie of the year award while leading the Bills to a Division Championship. He went on to enjoy a 10 year professional career including three Pro Bowl appearances and two All-star appearances in the USFL. Cribbs retired in 1989. He finished as Buffalo’s 2nd all time leading rusher in only five seasons. He was elected into the Alabama Sports Hall of Fame and recognized as one of the SEC Legends. Cribbs also enjoys success in the business world through his company Joe Cribbs and Associates- providing insurance and retirement advice. The Joe Cribbs Youth Foundation raises money for the youth of Alabama. He serves as Commissioner of the UNGL a developmental football league that will provide players for the NFL.
