Jodi Boam

Competitive edge Since as far back as I can remember, I’ve always been involved in, and loved fitness. I found my passion in life early, when at seven years old I joined competitive gymnastics and made it to the Canadian National level by age 15. I would train 30 hours a week, plus school, without a moment of regret. Gymnastics taught me the importance of commitment, dedication and a great deal of discipline as I strove for success as a top athlete. Once my gymnastics career ended, I quickly found a new passion: fitness competitions. I started weight training at 17, just to stay in shape, and was then introduced to the world of Fitness by my best friend Rachel Davis. I found this sport to fit my personality so perfectly. The same drive for success that served me well for gymnastics has stuck with me. I won my division at my very first show when I was 19 years old, then the following year I placed fifth, my very first time hitting the national stage. I knew there was no quitting until I reached the top. And during my first few years of competing I was in great hands working with Canada top Athlete and my amazing Mentor – Mindi O’brien. By August 2010, at age 23, I earned my pro card. I am now an IFBB pro fitness athlete. Within my first few month of become pro, I entered 2 shows earning a top 5 placing at my Debut, and grab the top spot placing 1st at my second show in June 2011. My career has just begun, and I look forward to what I can possible achieve in the next few years as an Olympia Competitor. Career and passion I started my career as a coach when I turned 14, starting with the Junior Stars gymnastics program. There, I taught two- to seven-year-olds their basic skills, like cartwheels. I’ve always enjoyed helping and guiding others, and have made it my career as today I remain a gymnastics coach int he competitive program and also now a personal trainer. My passion, next to competing, is helping others achieve the same success I have. I can help with weight loss, muscle gains, competition prep and posing, and I specialize in choreography for both fitness and men’s bodybuilding routines. Whatever the goal, I love helping others achieve and succeed. Life’s motivation and inspiration I have always had a drive to separate myself from the crowd. I’m building a reputation for myself as an exceptional competitor that I am determined to improve. You need things in life that drive you to succeed. For me, I surround myself with positive people, those who also compete and can help push you through every day. I am lucky to have my best friend, Rachel Davis, a national figure competitor and fitness model, and my boyfriend, Eric Daye, a competitive bodybuilder and owner of TruBody Fitness, and of course will always have the one and only Mindi O’brien on my side who pushed me to be where I am today! Thank you to everyone has believed in me from the start! Other motivation tips: Watch videos, find role models, constantly update your goals and keep them in check, play your favorite music, ask questions and just train like no one’s watching. You also need to motivate others, not just be motivated! View Guest page

Heather Dees

I was born and raised in Salt Lake City and have lived there my whole life. I was first introduced to the Sport of Figure in August of 2007. I had never heard of Figure before but was tired of running being my only form of exercise and wanted to see a change in my physique. I had run 6 Half Marathons all over Utah and saw little to no changes to my physique. A friend at a gym I was working out at told me I had a good structure and should compete in a Figure Show. I was not immediately enthusiastic about standing on stage in a bikini and getting judged by a panel of judges in front of an audience, especially because I hated my legs and would never even wear shorts. I told my friend Jake at first that it didn't sound like figure competition was my thing... but then I thought about it for the next few days and thought it might possibly give me the changes I was hoping for in my body, whether I would actually step on stage or not was undecided. I found Jake at the gym the next day and told him I was actually interested in doing a show and would love to meet his trainer to get started. Jake told me his trainer was coming into the gym that night to work out and he would introduce us. Later that night was the first time I had met Justin Dees. He was a Certified Personal trainer that worked with NASM and Apex, studied exercise physiology at Arizona State University and the University of Utah, had been training people for 15 years, and was a National Level NPC bodybuilder himself. I knew instantly that this guy knew what he was doing and was very professional about it. I started training with Justin the next day at his own gym and haven't stopped since. He trained me from the begining of September 2007 till my first show which was the NPC Utah Classic in March 2008. There, I won the Overall title in Figure and was hooked! I believe once I started seeing changes to my physique the fear of wearing a Bikini in front of people slowly disappeared. I love my legs now and definitely walk around healthier, happier and confident. View Guest page

Oksana Grishina

My father was in the military so, as a child, our family moved often. I began my gymnastics training in Riga, Lithuania, where my father was studying. I was a very active child and my parents were looking for a way to direct my energy. My mother took me to a gymnastics school in Riga. The Art Gymnastics class was not in session, but my mother liked the beauty of the Rhythmic Gymnastics class she saw at the school. At age 7 I was already a late starter for gymnastics, but I tested well and the coach accepted me. I was a quick learner and, after just a few months, I placed 3rd in my first competition. Three years into my gymnastics training, my father’s studies ended and he was assigned to a new job in another city. This job came with a guarantee of government housing after only 1 year, a great benefit in Russia. Sadly, there was no gymnastics school in this city. My coach in Riga offered to let me stay there and continue my training. My parents asked me what I wanted to do, thinking that I surely wanted to move with them. But I was willing to stay in Riga and continue with my gymnastics. They were surprised, but understood my desires. My father switched assignments with another officer so that we could move to Kaliningrad, a city that did have a gymnastics school. However, this was a huge sacrifice for our family, as the government would not provide housing for 22 years. I was able to pursue my gymnastics in Kaliningrad, but our housing situation was always unstable. We changed apartments often and I moved from school to school. I spent countless hours commuting on foot and by bus from home to school to gymnastics and home again, and rarely saw my parents. I went to University in Kaliningrad and in 2000 received a degree as a specialist in Physical Training and Sports. During my university years and for several years later, I organized my own ballet, “Antares”, and worked as a choreographer with children at theTschaikovsky School of Music and Arts in Kaliningrad. At this time there were no fitness clubs in Kaliningrad, but when the first fitness clubs did open in 2002, A friend suggested that I work as a fitness and aerobics instructor. People at the gym told me I had a good structure for bodybuilding, and I began working out for competitive fitness. I spent several years working as a trainer and manager in sports clubs while quickly rising to the top of competitive Fitness in Russia. In 2005 and 2006 I was awarded the title of Best Non-Olympic Sportswoman of the Year in the Kaliningrad Region, while winning Fitness competitions on the international stage at the European and World Championships, finally earning my IFBB pro card to compete in the 2007 Olympia. I have now lived in the US for over 3 years and continue my work as a personal trainer, fitness consultant and fitness model. I am also teaching myself how to play the piano and am seeking out acting opportunities in Hollywood. Music and performance are both passions of mine that have helped to make my stage work in fitness so exciting and rewarding. After 12 years of gymnastic competitions and 6 years of fitness competitions, I still feel compelled to try to improve as an athlete… to do better, to be better. Competition is in my blood and I am a perfectionist. I love to compete against the best athletes in the world and I hope, through my performances and my hard work, to leave a lasting impression on the professional fitness world and be an inspiration for future competitors. Of course, I know I am still not the best, but I am always focused on my goals to improve and be a champion. View Guest page

One of my first & best memories of body building was when I was five years old at one of my father's bodybuilding shows. I will never forget him holding me in one arm and his 1st place trophy in the other. He felt he had won two prizes that day! And so did I... Because from that moment on, when people would ask what I wanted to be when I grew up I always said, "I want to be just like my Dad." I am well on my way; and today I am able to say, "Dad, look at your little girl now!". When I was first approached by Michael Cruthird, personal friend and the owner of Personally Fit Gym in Venice, CA, about competing in a bikini competition, there was no way I could fathom putting myself in the position to be judged in a tiny bikini in front of a large audience. 7 months later, I gave in and never looked back. My first show in 2009 was The Tournament of Champions in Culver City, CA. Not satisfied with stopping there, I decided to go for my Pro Card the following weekend at Team U in New York. I conquered that and I came home a "Pro", however I had no concept about what that really meant or what would be in store for me. Through trial and error, hard work, determination and dedication I quickly realized what would be required & I was forced to find out the hard way. Unfortunately, in 2010 I had to deal with some serious health issues; I was diagnosed with pancreatitis and ultimately finished last in my Pro Debut at the Tournament of Champions. Fortunately however, I'm stronger than I gave myself credit for and decided that nothing would hold me back. So I regrouped, refocused and came up with a new game plan. Who better to help me with that game plan then the king of Bikini himself, Mr. Kim Oddo?. It was then when I made the decision that this dream of mine could only be made a reality if I devoted 110% of my blood, sweat and tears. This decision required a huge lifestyle change, which I fully accepted with open arms. It’s not to say that 2011 hasn’t had its challenges... but I've enjoyed learning from them and more importantly, I have grown immensely from each and every roadblock that has tried to come in front of my final destination. I finally overcame years of stage fright, not to mention a dislocated pelvic bone. However, stopping there was not an option. I have been incredibly fortunate to have traveled throughout North America this season, learning & competing with the best in world. I cannot properly describe in words how much I love bodybuilding and look forward to many more competitions. Each one forces me to push myself to improve on my personal best. It also gives me the opportunity to meet the most wonderful, positive, like-minded people who make me feel comfortable, admired, respected and appreciated.. I look forward to an amazing 2011 season and an extraordinary 2012 season. It can only get better from here and like I said, I wouldn't have it any other way. These days when I say, "Dad, look at me NOW!", I know he is just as proud of me as he was the day he won that first place trophy with his little 5 year old baby girl as his good-luck charm... Kelly Prince…Business owner, Entrepreneur, Circus performer, fitness competitor, Pro-athlete yoga teacher I grew up in Sarasota, Florida performing in the circus from the age of nine all the way through high school. After graduating high school, I moved to Orlando, Florida to be a stunt performer at Walt Disney World. I performed in the Tarzan show playing the role of "Jane" for over five years and then moved to Tokyo, Japan to work at Tokyo Disney Sea. After living and performing in Tokyo, I relocated back to Orlando to perform again at Walt Disney World. During this time my heart was into performing for Cirque Desloe'. After sending in my circus demo video to Cirque, I was invited to an audition. I did great &actually got a call back to be in a show but at the time I feel in love with something different....YOGA. I started taking yoga classes & I feel in love with yoga it became my passion. I went to a Bikram yoga ( Hot yoga) teacher training in 2006. Shortly after that I opened Body Heat Sarasota a hot & power yoga studio in July of 2007. To much physical training can lead to an unbalanced life. Everybody needs balance. But how do we find it? YOGA. Besides running my business for the past four years and competing in fitness shows, I have also had the opportunity of taking my passion a step further. Two years ago Jason Riley, an althletic trainer from the Athletes Compound in Tampa, Florida, contacted me to teach yoga to a number of pro-athletes. Yoga is a necessity for these top athletes as they train for their respective sport. Athletes are bombarded with internal and external stressors, causing physical, mental and emotional exhaustion. In order to get the most out of their on-field performance, we had to make sure that we were developing both mind and body. Yoga is the perfect fusion of this concept. It allows athletes to learn breathing techniques, learn how to control their heart rate response, learn how to focus while blocking put physical and mental distractions. View Guest page

My journey to where I am today is quite interesting. It covers three countries and countless stories. I was born in the Philippines and was almost immediately adopted by my Aunt. She married an Irish/Scottish man who moved us to Canada when I was 7 years old. He traveled a lot so every summer I would stay in California with family until school started. When I was 14 I actually lived here in California before my adopted mother decided to move back to Canada. I have always been athletic and used to get in trouble because I used to get cuts and bruises when playing with the neighborhood kids. Throughout my school years I played on numerous sport teams and was even an All Star point guard basketball player at 4’11”. I almost lost my ability to be athletic when I was run over by a drunk driver when I was 16. I had to go through extensive physical therapy to help rebuild the muscle and recover from that accident. Needless to say the results I had from the physical therapy enticed me to continue to work out in the gym even after my physical therapy was completed. I lost my adoptive mother when I was 17 years old (still in high school) and lived on my own. I would have to lie to the school that I was living with family in order to avoid being placed in a home until I was 18. I was able to put myself through school and work to make ends meet. Adrien Rudesal

I am honored to have this opportunity and thankful you are accepting my resume and information. I’m sure it’s common to hear a trainer say they have a passion for fitness but honestly it is my life. I couldn’t imagine my life without it. I truly believe that I was put on this earth to help people. I live for it. Aside from the loss of a loved one, I truly believe that losing weight is one of the hardest battles /challenges someone overweight and or obese will face in their life. Losing weight isn’t easy and if they fail then I have failed. PERIOD and I don’t like to fail. I enjoy training anyone and everyone. But I LOVE training the one’s that “no one could help”. The ones with every excuse in the book, the individual that has been overweight their entire life and think they have no way out. It gives me a high to do what most feel is impossible. I have trained obese clients with food addiction, clients with previous eating disorders, cancer survivors, you name it. I have had clients lose anywhere from 5 pounds all the way to 60 and 70 pounds. I am patient and loving but I don’t put up with excuses. I love it when someone tells me they can’t do something. Deep down I KNOW that I can be the first person to make them believe that they can. Every single person is different. Everyone’s body is different. It’s my job to find what will work for them; what will change their life. I co-own CrossFit Round Rock with my boyfriend of over 4 years. We were just recently voted one of Austin Fit magazine’s 10 fittest couples and featured in the February 2011 issue. Before competing in CrossFit and owning CrossFit Round Rock I was a master trainer at 24 hour fitness. I was one of the top trainers in Austin (you said you wanted me to brag HA!). I worked off a referral basis only for new clientele because I was so full. Even now being “Independent” I maintain a full schedule and have a waiting list to take on new clients. I wish I had more time in my schedule because I hate not being to help everyone but there just aren’t enough hours in the day! In 2009 I won overall at my first Figure competition called The Texas Shredder Classic and was featured in Iron Man Magazine. I made it to the final interview for Jillian Michaels position on the biggest loser, missing the job to Anna Kournikova .I am not one to brag, but making it that far when I was recommended by an anonymous person and didn’t even apply was a huge honor. I have been offered a few other possible opportunities with MTV and such but it wasn’t the right timing and it didn’t feel right in my heart. My dream was never to become famous, it was to change lives. So taking a job just because it might make me famous doesn’t matter to me. I have trained obese clients with food addiction, clients with previous eating disorders, cancer survivors, you name it. I have had clients lose anywhere from 15 pounds all the way to 60 and 70 pounds or someone looking to better themselves and their sport of choice. I could go on and on about the bottom line is that being a GREAT personal trainer isn’t easy. I believe it’s something that is in your heart and soul. You eat sleep and dream it. I feel so blessed to wake up every second of every day doing what I love to do. What I was born to do. I always ask people “What makes you tick…What makes you go?” Well my clients make me tick. They give me the motivation to keep going day in and day out. 17 hours days fly bye when you’re surrounded by those that you love. They are my family and I wouldn’t be who I am today without them.
