The Living Shelter Café
w/ host(s) Terry K. Phelan

Now Playing:Pocket Neighborhoods with Ross Chapin, Architect

[Bookmark] Cottages provoke a sense of coziness and connection to days gone by. When they are clustered together with the right carefully balanced elements, the result can be something close to magic. What are those elements that balance individual privacy with a sense of deep community? How does this model help meet our needs for green living? Ross shares how skillful planning, green building concepts, and a fine eye for detail can bring this home. His insight into the importance of commons in our lives and how good design can heighten our experience is excellent food for thought. Ross is the principal of Ross Chapin Architects, and is recognized for his award-winning small home designs and pioneering design collaboration with The Cottage Company. His work has been widely published in The Not So Big House series and Fine Homebuilding magazine. He lives on Whidbey Island, Washington, and is currently working on a Green Building School and a book about Pocket Neighborhoods. www.rosschapin.com
