In 2009, you'd think that most women experiencing normal (non-high risk) pregnancies would be afforded full access to the numerous birthing options available. Sadly in the US this is not always the case. Malpractice concerns have allowed many hospitals, insurance companies, and even state governments to dictate what choices a woman has regarding her birth. This affects whom she has as a caregiver, birthplace (hospital, birthing center, or home), and even the options on her birthing plan.
