Ed Meyer

Ed Meyer has worked in the racing industry going on 20 years. He has held various positions on the Ohio and Kentucky racing circuit, including Race Book Manager, Player Development Manager, and is currently the Director of Marketing at River Downs in Ohio. Ed has hosted a weekly radio show for over 10 years in both Ohio and Kentucky also has been a guest on various radio programs from around the country. His experience includes doing on-air handicapping for Turfway Park and River Downs. He called races in the spring of 2008 on an interim basis for over a month of live racing. Ed’s handicapping contest experience includes: Winner of the 2004 Churchill Downs/Trackside $20,000 contest to qualify for the NTRA contest in Las Vegas; he placed 40th of 800 last year in the “Horse Player World Series” at the Orleans in Las Vegas, and he has qualified for the “tournament of Champions” contest at Keeneland two years running. Ed enjoys playing the New York Circuit, Kentucky, Mid-West circuits and Fairgrounds. His preferred wagers are Pick-3’s and Pick-4’s, and he also enjoys spot playing to find value. Ed tends to stay away from Daily Doubles and Pick-6’s. Parlay wagers are also a favorite play. Ed’s overall philosophy is to find value and have patience. Take what is given and wait for your opportunities. If you stick to your guns and keep track of your wagers, you will turn a profit on a consistent basis.

Winning Ponies

On the show we will talk about the sport of kings. We will delve into the different features on the Winning Ponies web site. Ed Meyer will talk about the issues of the day that affect horse racing, such as synthetic surfaces, the fate of older racecourses, and human interest stories of triumph and defeat. You will also hear our spot play of the week, where Ed will handicap a feature race for the upcoming week-end, and will give out our best play. We will keep you abreast of big racing events and huge carry-overs. Featured on the show will be guests (trainers, jockeys, jockey’s agents, other celebrity handicappers). Promotional giveaways will be featured, such as brand merchandise or free Winning Ponies credits. Trips to the ’09 Kentucky Derby at Louisville will be raffled. Winning Ponies with Ed Meyer is broadcast live every Thursday at 5 PM Pacific Time on the VoiceAmerica Sports Network.
