Lola Jean Michelin has been a pioneer in the growing field of animal massage for over 20 years, caring for all sorts of animals from horses and house pets to monkeys and even a giraffe. In 2001, Lola founded the Northwest School of Animal Massage in Seattle, Wa. Now, students come from all over the world to learn her style of animal massage. Through the school, she helps support programs at Humane Societies and animal rescues throughout the United States and Canada. She has volunteered her services with horse rescues and wildlife rehabilitation centers. Her writings on the subject have appeared in national magazines and she was a guest author in Of Women and Horses: Volume Two. by GaiWaNi Ponyboy. She is currently at work on two books and serves on the National Certification Board for Animal Acupressure and Massage. She was an awardee at the 2008 Seattle Make Mine a Million Dollar Business event sponsored by Count Me In. She most recently partnered with a school in Hong Kong to teach animal massage and was a featured speaker at the International Association of Animal Massage and Bodyworkers annual conference in Seattle. She currently shares her busy life with her horse Osso, three dogs (Gorilla, Shanny and Darci) and a miniature donkey named Seth. It’s never a dull moment!
