One of the most important parts of the Common App is the section in which students list their activities. Involvement outside the classroom is a major selection component for many universities, and this is the primary opportunity to share the depth and breadth of that involvement. We’ll offer tips for these 10 entries to maximize their impact. In other segments, we’ll go over what you need to know about FERPA and one of our educators will share her experiences studying engineering in a liberal arts college.

Joy Biscornt got her first taste of college admissions as a tour guide, student panelist, and workstudy while an undergraduate at Lafayette College. After receiving a BS in Civil Engineering, she worked as an engineer in the areas of construction and environmental quality. Joy brings a wealth of experience in domestic and international admissions with her, having spent most of her career in the admissions profession. Laurie Peltier

Laurie Peltier spent more than twenty years in financial aid at the college and university level prior to joining College Coach. She graduated from Bentley University with a Bachelors degree in Marketing, and completed her MBA at Anna Maria College, where she also served as financial aid director.
