'Trump' and 'Millenials'
September 13, 2017
Hosted by Kathryn Zox
Kathryn interviews psychiatrist Allen Frances MD, author of “Twilight of American Sanity: A Psychiatrist Analyzes the Age of Trump”. For the countless Americans who are concerned about the future of our democracy, Dr. Frances provides an urgently needed prescription for reclaiming our psychological bearings. Dr. Frances was the chairman of the DSM-IV Task Force and former chair of the Department of Psychiatry at Duke University. Kathryn also interviews psychology professor Jean Twenge PhD, author of “iGen: Why Today’s Super-Connected Kids Are Growing Up Less Rebellious, More Tolerant, Less Happy – And Completely Unprepared for Adulthood”. They are glued to the internet, socialize in person less and have higher rates of anxiety and depression. They party less, get along better with their parents and are more open-minded than any generation before them. Dr. Twenge analyzes data from decades of studies to bring us closer to understanding this next generation and our future.
