Episode Description

Dr. Paul Schanfield has been a Neurologist in St. Paul for over 40 yrs. He recently published a book, called "A Migraine in Room 3 A Stroke in Room 4," which beautifully and succinctly describes the work of a dedicated, humble, & humane physician passing on the wisdom of his life's work to future generations of doctors. He clearly shares what his training was in the positives & negatives, along with great quotes of Hippocrates (which have given him direction along the way), as well as beautiful, funny & touching comments of his patients. He enjoyed & appreciated their words in the moment, consistently wrote down, brought them home & collected them. After Retirement in 2015, he decided it was time to bring them to life. The result is this delightful, enlightening & heartwarming book he now shares with all of us. Please join us for this conversation with a warm, wise & caring physician. Among the topics of discussion, how relationships are grown between ALL healthcare colleagues.

Once a Nurse, Always a Nurse

Monday at 10 AM Pacific Time on VoiceAmerica Health and Wellness Channel

There are SO many issues in healthcare that impact medical/nursing providers and patients alike, but each of them may not see the connections to themselves. This show will be a forum for nurses to tell stories about their own experiences, whether professional or family-focused and guests will inspire conversation on health and nursing-related topics. Issues will vary from communication in healthcare to current issues, such as nurse/patient ratios, dealing with conflict, how to create cooperative workplaces, speed-reading people, as nursing strikes and much more. Government policies are creating a major shift for all healthcare providers as well as their patients. We, as nurses, will be creating the future healthcare paradigms as we move forward, becoming a crucial part of the solutions. “Once a Nurse, Always a Nurse: Exploring the World of Nursing” is broadcast live every Monday at 10 AM Pacific Time on the VoiceAmerica’s Health and Wellness Channel.
