Episode Description

The Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS) regulations, revised in the past few years, will improve infection control in long term care facilities and must be fully implemented by November 2019. Improved infection control practices in Long Term Care Facilities (LTCF’s) should result in a reduction in healthcare-associated infections, including C. difficile infections. In 2019, LTCFs participating in Medicare must be in full compliance with part 483.80 of title 42 of the Code of Federal Regulations (CFR). The IPCP at a single LTCF was evaluated for compliance with these revised regulations. Join our guests Doe Kley, RN, CIC, MPH and R. Deane Kirchner, RN as they discuss and review The infection control revisions in the CMS requirements for LTCF’s. * The unique challenges that LTCF’s face with infection control and antimicrobial stewardship.* Evidence-based recommendations for the prevention of C. diff in LTCF’s. and much more.
