This week Marty welcomes Wes Chester of Shady Oaks Kennels in Statesboro, GA as his guest. We are closing in on the hunting seasons and Wes has some great information for dog owners to help get them ready for the season. Wes trains many types of retrieving dogs, but he specializes in hunting and flushing training to give clients the complete dog. Marty and Wes will discuss things like getting your dog in shape, tips on how to pick the right breed and puppy, techniques to maintain control of your dog when hunting and much more. Lots going on in the Wing and Clay world in August and Marty will have all the info in his Wing and Clay News segment. We will have LIVE updates from the 120th ATA Grand American and the World English Sporting Clays Championship being held in separate venues in Illinois this week. Marty Fischer is one of America’s best-known outdoor celebrities. A graduate of Georgia Southern College, he has been an outdoor television host for almost three decades on shows like Suzuki Great Outdoors on ESPN, Shotgun Journal on the Outdoor Life Network, TNT Outdoor Explosion and “If It Flies…” on the Pursuit Channel. He is a well-known outdoor writer who has authored two books, The Gun Digest Book of Shotgunning and Limbhangers and 4-Letter Words, a book on turkey hunting. In addition to his books, he has written articles for many of the top outdoor magazines on the market. Marty is a NSCA Level III Certified Instructor who has been coaching wing and clay shooters for more than 35 years. He was recently called “the most famous left handed wingshooter in the world” by the popular Shotgun Life website. He is an avid upland bird, waterfowl and turkey hunter who has harvested more than 100,000 gamebirds in 11 countries on four continents around the world and in more than 35 U.S. states. Marty has been a finalist in the World Duck Calling Championship in Stuttgart, Arkansas on four occasions, including a Top 5 finish in that event. He is also a public speaker and President of SportShooting Consultants, Ltd., a gun club design and consulting company that he has owned and managed since 1992.
