Episode Description
One of the major challenges facing returning veterans is reintegrated into civilian life. One of the most important roles in this reintegration is securing a job. Far too often the skills, training, the vernacular and leadership gained during active duty does not translate to nonmilitary jobs. They discover the skill they have to lead people, to find a way to get the job done, to stay on task and to complete the mission are simply not taken into consideration. As the frustration grows it turns to depression. Many times a veteran will say, “I’ll start my own business,” but they are not prepared to design, create, or sustain a business. So the downward spiral continues. But there is hope. The Veteran Chamber of Commerce has been created to assist veterans to learn the skills of business ownership; how to register and complete for contracts; how to scale and sustain a successful business and most important it provides that community and support system they had while on active duty.

Life altering events present us with opportunities to seize the moment and make difference in our own life, the lives of our loved one, friends and business associates. They also can be a fork in the road where we can fall apart or pick up the pieces and start moving forward toward better times and better people. It is never too late to have the life you want and deserve. Let’s talk about it.
