Episode Description
Much is known today about the strategies to live longer, healthier lives. Aside from physical health and freedom from disabling, chronic diseases, lifestyle factors like diet, exercise, purpose, and mental stimulation all appear to be important contributors to longevity. Our guest on this week’s radio program is Dr. Colin Depp, a clinical and research psychologist from UC San Diego, whose work closely follows the findings on longevity and successful aging. We will discuss various definitions of what “successful aging” is, the influence of heredity and healthy behaviors on living a long life, and evidence-based research about successful aging. We will also explore the notion that old age, even when accompanied by reduced physical functioning, can result in better mental functioning. This episode continues in the Living to 100 Club’s trend to showcase the state-of-the-art about living longer, healthier, and happier lives. Join us for what promises to be a very informative program.
