Episode Description
What are the trends in long-term care that you need to know when choosing care for mom, dad, grandparents or loved ones? Liza Berger, senior editor at McKnight's Long-Term Care News will discuss the trends being covered for and by industry professionals and help translate these trends for the average person having to make long-term care decisions for loved ones. Liza will explain Medicare Advantage and the fairly new Institutional Special Needs Plans (I-SNPs), which provide a unique approach to care in a long-term or skilled nursing facility. A list of institutions appropriate for providing I-SNP plans is available at the CMS website: https://www.cms.gov/Medicare/Eligibility-and-Enrollment/MedicareMangCareEligEnrol. She will also discuss the issues related to COVID-19 spread and testing in nursing homes, along with the virus' impact on nursing homes as we know them to be, virtual family visits and reimbursement changes.
