Making Action Happen

Archives and New Shows Available on VoiceAmerica Variety Channel

Making Action Happen is a show about the Action22 members and communities. The show introduces you to Colorado community leaders, elected officials, and individuals to gain perspective on their ideas and experiences. While Action22 works on public policy from the rural space, we explore which perspectives are driven by political party lines and which ones are not. Specifically, we focus on and discuss topics that have ongoing and immediate impact on our communities, and by extension other communities like ours. The purpose is to help you find insight and solutions relevant to what you are working on, regardless of where you are in the world.

Sara Blackhurst with Brian McCain

Sara Blackhurst became President of Action22 in June of 2017. She came to the organization as a Development Professional with more than a decade of experience in program development, fundraising, grant writing and nonprofit administration. Sara began her career as the ED of The Greenhorn Valley Chamber of Commerce. Next, she served as Director of Development for Sangre de Cristo Hospice. While there she also designed and captured funding for “We Honor Veterans” and the Caregiver Support system for primary caregivers. She went on to an adolescent treatment facility as the Development Officer where she initiated an innovative program to provide care for minors who were victims of sex trafficking. Currently she is a Packard Foundation Fellow and is highly sought after for organizational consulting. Sara’s philosophy centers on the power of questions. Her mantra is “What matters most to those we serve?” and “What do our communities need from us?” Sara met and married her college sweetheart (who grew up in Alaska) while getting a degree in Business Administration from Adams State University. Currently, Sara enjoys “living rural” in her hometown of Rye, Colorado with her husband and their three very outdoorsy sons.
