Episode Description

Congress was busy this week, approving legislation that helps homeowners prevent foreclosure and another measure that cracks down on credit card companies for arbitrarily raising rates. Vince Frillici, a senior public policy advisor at Patton Boggs, will dissect the bills and tell you what it all means. And we will examine the recent conviction against two self-proclaimed stock-picking experts who persuaded consumers on late-night infomercials to spend money on software and other products to play the market. Defense attorneys Christina Sarchio and Mark Schamel contend their clients were essentially found guilty of embellishment. They say their clients are being held to an impossibly high standard that could have a "chilling effect" on salespeople everywhere.
