Coralease Ruff’s daughter, Candice was killed in an accident in 1997 while serving as a missionary in Santiago Dominican Republic. Coralease is a registered nurse, college professor, grief educator and author of “Her Light Still Shines” a tribute to her daughter and guide for bereaved parents. Linda Maurer lost her only child, Molly Marie in 1991 in a tragic accident in Mexico. She is the author of, “Standing Beside You: A Book for Bereaved Parents” and “I Don’t Know How to Help Them: A Book For Friends and Families of Bereaved Parents”. Her purpose in writing these books is to give help, comfort, and guidance to others coping with pain and grief.

Drs. Gloria and Heidi Horsley
Dr. Gloria Horsley, BSN, MS, MA, CNS, MFT, MIM, Ph.D. is a bereaved parent and has worked in family therapy for 22 years. She holds graduate degrees from the University of Rochester, Syracuse, Greenwich and Holos Universities. Dr. Gloria serves The Compassionate Friends in a number of roles, including Board Director and chairperson for TCF’s annual program for professionals. Dr. Heidi Horsley, BS, MS, MSW, Psy.D. is a bereaved sibling and adjunct professor at Columbia University’s school of Social Work where she teaches courses including grief, loss, and bereavement. She holds graduate degrees from Columbia University, Loyola, and University of San Francisco. She also conducts seminars & workshops at The Compassionate Friends annual bereavement conferences.
