Episode Description
Karen Knee is a bereaved parent whose son, James, 19, died in a car accident on July 8, 2003. She and her extended family (including surviving son, Robert), have worked to create a non-profit organization, Memory JAR, to help other families facing death – from funeral planning, to memorializing their loved ones and grief resources. Karen’s primary goal was to honor her son by helping others during this very difficult time. Additionally, Memory JAR is working on creating a program to help families in need to bury their children in Orange County, California. Although her grief journey is still in the early stages, there is a certain “peace” that is obtained knowing that her son is being honored with each family they help.
