Garry “G” Cobb is a former NFL star who has transitioned successfully into a sports radio and television broadcaster. His 11-year career began in 1979 included six years with the Detroit Lions, three years with the Philadelphia Eagles and two years with the Dallas Cowboys.

With the Eagles, Cobb played for some of the most popular defenses in team history. Lining up next to Hall of Famer Reggie White and superstar quarterback Randall Cunningham, Cobb helped terrorize opposing offenses under the immortal Buddy Ryan.

Cobb had his best day as a pro against the Atlanta Falcons when he registered four sacks, two forced fumbles, and a fumble recovery, earning him Sports Illustrated’s “NFL Defensive Player of the Week.” His four-sack performance was the Eagles single-game record until Clyde Simmons racked up four and a half in a game a few years later.

After his football career, Cobb became a popular talk show host on Sportsradio WIP in 1991. He became known as G. Cobb and has developed quite a following amongst sports fans who have come to know him as the authority on the Philadelphia Eagles.

Cobb was previously a sports anchor and reporter on CBS 3 television in Philadelphia for eight years. He created GCobb.com, an Eagles-heavy sports website that is known amongst the mainstream Philly sports media as a “must-read.” He writes a weekly newspaper columnist in the Philadelphia Bulletin, and is also a regular on Comcast Sportsnet.
