Sean Salisbury

Sean Salisbury

Sean Salisbury was born in Long Beach, CA and attended Orange Glen High School in Escondido, CA. Sean was the most highly recruited quarterback in the nation, choosing USC. Many coaches felt Salisbury was a better basketball player than football player. He averaged 26.5 points per game and was a high school All-American basketball player. He was offered scholarships in basketball, football and baseball by top schools nationally.

A standout quarterback at USC (1981-85), Salisbury was a broadcasting major and was inducted into the Skull and Dagger society, which honors excellence for academics and athletics. During his 10 year career, Salisbury played for the Seahawks, Colts, Vikings, and the Chargers, as well as the Winnipeg Blue Bombers of the CFL where he led the Blue Bombers to a Grey Cup victory. Salisbury went on to become an NFL analyst on ESPN’s SportsCenter and NFL Live. He is well known for the good-natured teasing of fellow analyst John Clayton.

In 2004, Salisbury was offered a job with the Arizona Cardinals by his former coach and fellow co-worker at ESPN, Dennis Green, to become their new quarterback coach. He declined, but was hired as a consultant for the 2005 remake of the The Longest Yard. On the set, Sean taught Adam Sandler proper quarterback mechanics, cadences, and footwork. Sandler later offered Salisbury a role in the 2006 film, The Benchwarmers. In 2007, Salisbury had his No. 12 football jersey retired at Orange Glen High School.
