"The Rooney Rule, affirmative action or just plain good business sense," that is the question Ida Muorie, Host of the Sportsmavericks Show will asked her special guest, John Wooten, Chairmen of the Fritz Pollard Alliance Foundation (FPA), an advocacy group that promotes diversity and equality in the NFL's hiring practices, and supports the use of the "Rooney Rule" in hiring practices of NFL Coaches and General Managers. The rule states, "Once the season is concluded, the head coaching position must be considered open and the club must fill the position in accordance with the interviewing guidelines. No club may make a commitment to a coach retained during the season that extends beyond the end of the club’s playing season. Any contract that seeks to make such a commitment will not be approved.
