Consumer Financial Protection - Health Care Watch - Presidential Race and More
July 21, 2011
Hosted by Squire Patton Boggs
July 21 is the opening day of the new government agency, the Bureau of Consumer Financial Protection (BCFP). On this episode of Capital Thinking, Kevin O'Neill is joined first by Richard Andreano, John Socknat and Mike Waldron, three mortgage banking attorneys who are well-versed in consumer finance issues, to discuss the impact the new agency will have on the residential mortgage industry. In an effort to support the mortgage banking industry and to assist its professionals in understanding BCFP's effects, Richard, John and Mike, in association with the Practising Law Institute, co-authored the Mortgage Finance Regulation Answer Book 2011-12, a useful tool which outlines the current federal requirements and highlights how they inter-relate. Stay with us as the co-authors tell us more about the book. Next, Julie Black and Heidi Bajnrauh walk us through the latest health care updates, and especially on issues such as the affordable health care, the CO-OP Program and other near term regulatory items on the Department of Health and Human Services' agenda.
