Episode Description

Can a book cause kids to develop eating disorders? That’s the charge leveled against children’s book Maggie Goes on a Diet and its author, Paul Kramer. Scheduled for release the day after he goes on the radio with Dr. Rey and Natalie, Maggie has already become one of the most controversial kids’ books in a generation. But does it really teach kids to loathe their bodies and believe the myth that being skinny equals being popular, as its critics accuse? Kramer doesn’t think so. Find out why he believes he’s spreading a positive message and what looming health crisis compelled him to write Maggie in the first place.
