The payments industry is undergoing a sea change as smartcard technology and mobile payments transform the global marketplace. In 2012 millions of consumers worldwide will have access to smart cards, NFC-enabled smart phones and mobile wallets. EMV, the Europay/MasterCard/Visa global interoperability chip-card standard for payments is about to sweep the Americas. In Asia, Europe and the Americas, contactless smart cards for the mass transit are migrating beyond the metro. Meanwhile mobile operators are challenging banks issuers by offering their own loyalty cards, coupons, targeted deals. And then there's Apple – not to mention the Cloud. Randy Vanderhoof, Executive Director of the Smart Card Alliance will give us a preview of the organization's upcoming 2012 Payments Summit, tell us how to make sense of these converging trends, and discuss how they can affect your international business.

Prior to founding her own firm, Té headed the Industrial & Healthcare Practices of FIND's Strategic Consulting & Research Group and taught at the Zicklin School of Business (Baruch/CUNY). She was the Editor of Business International’s flagship newsletter and helped create its country risk service.
An NYC native, Té is active with Citizen Action, the URJ’s Commission on Social Action, and NY Neighbors for American Values (defending religious freedom, diversity and equality). She holds a Masters from Columbia’s School of International & Public Affairs and a BA from Goucher College. She’s an avid bike rider, theater buff and farmers market supporter—and the bemused owner of 2 demanding felines.
