Our featured guest today, Joseph F. Burgoyne III, is Director, Institutional and Retail Marketing, for The Options Industry Council (OIC). Joseph will go over the history of the OIC. We will discuss the growth of US listed options industry, number of products listed, and contracts traded. He will let us know who they target with their education (retail investors, financial advisors, and institutions (pension plan trustees and foundations), along with how they educate (web site, live presentations, webinars, podcasts, investor services desk). He will define what options are…tools that allow investors to 1)protect portfolios, thereby managing risk, 2)generate additional income, 3)speculate. We will discuss some of the more common option strategies used by investors…covered calls, vertical spreads, calendar spreads, collars. Many free tools available to build a base of knowledge with the options product. The investment required is TIME.
