Special Encore Presentation: In Review: New gTLD Applications – Doing Business in Canada: Class Action and Employment Matters
May 17, 2012
Hosted by Squire Patton Boggs
Join us on this week’s Capital Thinking with guest host Vince Frillici as he is joined first by IT and trademark gurus, Deborah Lodge, Mark Ellison and Chris Adams. The team will explain the process that the International Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers (ICANN) is currently implementing to review new, generic top-level domain names, or gTLDs, since the application window closed April 12. Deborah, Mark and Chris will review the dos and don’ts for trademark owners and applicants participating in the process, and share what to expect post-review. Next, we will focus on doing business in Canada with the help of two lawyers from the Canadian law firm of McCarthy Tetrault. Vince will speak first with Jill Yates, one of the authors of "Defending Class Actions of in Canada," regarding the hot areas in Canadian class actions, the similarities and differences between Canadian and U.S. class actions, and how cases in both countries influence each other.
